A chance conversation at work led to coleagues Graeme-Francis Mullin and Mark Whitworth from Envirolink Northwest decided that travelling 10,000 miles across two continents and nineteen countries in a car with an engine of less than 1000cc was not a bad idea, in fact it was an idea approaching genious. 

Several months later and having spent a good 8 seconds online attempting to book a place on the mongol rally, limited to 200 entrants, the dream took a huge step forward with the inauguration of The Green Team.

The viisionary titan who thought of our name, Mark, did so after much deliberation.  His mind worked as such....

• both of us work for an environmental organisation

• One idea would be to minimise the impact of the trip on the environment

• There are no swear words in it

After this stroke of genius, and having submitted the name to the rally organisors, Graeme wasted liile time in confirming that indeed this name was crap, and an ant with learning difficulties could have thought of a better name.
